I have always struggled with finding the right makeup or skincare products that wouldn’t make my skin react. I’ve had my fair share of eczema, rashes and redness over the years, especially as a child.
Throughout my teenage years, I suffered from horrendous acne and bacne, which not only totally shattered my self esteem and confidence to be a young woman, but I also had ridiculously sensitive skin which made finding the right skincare a nightmare. I would dress conservatively and cover up my skin because I was afraid of what others would think.
Medication seemed the only answer and, after many years of taking both the birth control pill and strong antibiotics to fix my skin, it had wreaked havoc with my body and immune system.
Over the past five years, I have been on a journey of natural awareness and incorporating natural products into my life. From seeing a naturopath to fix years of damage to my immune system and educating myself on nutrition, to testing different natural skincare products until finding the one that works for my skin, I am building the confidence to show my natural self to the world in my thirties.
It hasn’t been easy. It still has its ups and downs. But each day is a chance to build upon the day before.
